Roommate Finder is a mobile app that connects homeowners with like-minded roommates in a safe and intellligent way.
Design a mobile product experience that appeals to millennials that makes it safe to find the ideal roommate in Mexico City. The experience is designed from the perspective of a person who is looking for a roommate as well as an apartment. Once the ideal roommate is found, what else can this product do to make the roommate experience better?
54% of the world’ s population live in urban communities, the average marriage age for men is 29 (up from 26 two decades ago) and for women is 27 (up from 23 in the same time period). Given these trends, city dwellers tend to spend most of their twenties living with roommates. Finding and keeping a good roommate, however, gets harder as more people swarm into cities.
Given the timeframe I had for the project, I had to do some trade-offs in the user research phase, but I wanted to validate the original problem. I determined that the quickest way to discover the most prevalent pain points in people looking for a roommate or a place to live would be through an online survey. The survey consisted of open questions to get the most insights from the participants and then grouped them according to topics to identify trends.
Currently living or have lived in Mexico City.
56.07% females and 43.93% Males
Born Between 1987 And 2002.
Have lived with roommates in the past.
From the research conducted I discovered that the main pain points were the neighborhood and finding a clean and organized roommates so i took some steps created a MoSCoW chart to help me prioritize and put these issues upfront in the design process.
